1) Hide Comments From Your Posts
Yes, we know how much those comments impact your serotonin, but what if the comment section is not the bubble of positivity you want it to be? Or wait, do you need the validation anymore? We are, after all, in the self-acceptance phase where we don’t let the comment section decide our self-worth. Turn those comments off.
How to do it:
- From your profile, select the menu from the top right and tap Settings
- Tap Privacy
- Tap Comments
- Set Manual Filters for specific words or phrases, or select Hide Offensive Comments to auto-filter for common rude language
- While you can’t disable comments across your profile, you can disable comments on a specific post by selecting Advanced Settings>Turn Off Commenting while you’re posting.
2) Mute Those Bothersome Followers Already
We all have people we are following, but we don’t want to do anything with, be it their minor issues or anything. At least I do. Well, we should bless the creators for the mute option then, you can simply mute activities of people without unfollowing them (no more good morning stories of Aunt Kavita)
How to do it:
- From your feed, find a post from the person you’d like to mute and click the three dots on the top right-hand corner of the post
- Click mute
- We will choose what all to mute, like the stories or the posts. These can also be muted by pressing and holding on a Story in your tray or from a profile
3) Hide Posts From Your Feed Without Deleting Them
Let us admit it, and we realize some pictures are not for the feed after posting them; well, we still want the images for us but not for everyone’s eyes, so we archive it.
How to do it:
- Go on the post or video you want to archive, and click three dots on the top.
- Select Archive
- You can review all of your archived posts by going to your profile, clicking the archive button, and there you have it, all your posts removed without deleting them forever.
4) Clear That Hysterical Search History
What???? “We could clear search history on Instagram all this time, and I didn’t know?” I know, right? This feature is a beautiful blessing.
How to do it:
- Go to the profile, a list of options is shown (looks different from Android and iPhone, but it’s probably the three dots)
- Now go to the bottom and click clear your search history (right above the log out button)
- A confirmation message pops up; click on it. Yes, I am sure.
5) Remove The Unwanted Pictures You Have Been Tagged Into
How to do it:
- To find out the photos you have been tagged to, go to your profile and click on the symbol where a person appears (the right-most column of the page usually), now all the tagged images are in front of you.
- Click on those three dots and choose edits tags
- Then select the photos you intend to remove.
- Next, click Hide from profile
6) Get Alerts When Your Favorite People Post
Now, Instagram, can you stop being so calm? You can get notified whenever your favorite people post, you can download their videos too with this page by 4Hub; honestly, this has become the most satisfying feature.
How to do it:
Go to the user’s profile whom you want to get notifications of. 2. Tap on the three dots at the top right corner and select Turn on Post Notifications, and you are done!
