Who is Maren Morris?
Maren Morris started writing songs and playing them at honky-tonks when she was only 12 years old. After eight years, she moved to Nashville to try to make a living as a country music singer. She used to write songs for Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson, but when she put out an EP with her own name on it, she went back to her roots as a performer. Hero, her first album with a major label, came out in 2016. Her first single, “My Church,” earned her four Grammy nominations and a win in 2017.

Maren was born on April 10, 1990, in Arlington, Texas. At the time, his parents, Greg and Kellie Morris ran a salon. When she was 12, her dad gave her her first guitar.

In July 2017, Morris’s boyfriend, singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd, asked her to marry him. The couple got married in March 2018 in Nashville. Their son Hayes was born in March 2020.

When Morris was 20, her friend and fellow Texan Kacey Musgraves told her to leave her hometown and move to Nashville to advance her music career. Her first setbacks came when she tried out for both The Voice and American Idol and got turned down. She is glad now that things didn’t work out. She once told Rolling Stone Country, “When I think about all the crazy talent shows I’ve tried out for in my life, I’m so glad I didn’t make it to any of them. Because of it, I’m happier now.”

After those auditions didn’t go well, she began writing songs. In 2014, she wrote the song “Last Turn Home” for McGraw. In 2015, she wrote the song “Second Wind” for Clarkson.
